'I Dedicate This Award To My Country,' Says Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi

Film director Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is set to release his much-awaited film Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar soon, has been granted the prestigious Padma Shri award.

"I am deeply honoured to receive the prestigious Padma Shri award,” he says. “I have been lucky enough to creatively collaborate with some of the best minds of the Hindi film and television industry. They have enriched me, pushed my boundaries and made me better creatively. I share this huge moment of my life with all these people who have shaped me and my thinking.”

The director adds, “I have always been someone who has tried to tell a story that is steeped in the culture and history of my country. I dedicate this award to my country. This recognition will drive me to tell stories that celebrate my motherland in its full glory like my next Prithviraj in which we will honour the bravery of one of the greatest warriors India has ever seen. I had the pleasure to work with a towering actor like Akshay Kumar to bring Prithviraj alive on-screen, and I hope all of you love the film that we have made with a lot of passion.

Dwivedi is best known for directing Chanakya, a television epic, and Pinjar, a critically acclaimed film. His forthcoming film, Prithviraj, is based on the life and valor of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay Kumar plays the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Manushi is essaying the role of the warrior's beloved, Sanyogita, whose launch was one of the most anticipated debuts of 2022. The film has been produced by Yash Raj Films.
